"When growing up, our family worked hard. I often saw my father work 18 hour days while my mother managed the books for the family business.  They set a great example of hard work, and making sure that people are better off from what one person can do.  I fell in love with psychology my senior year in high school, a public high school that provided to me a phenomenal education that taught me the skills of learning.  My adviser in graduate school carried that same mission forward.  Then, as a father, my own children faced challenges, such as the pandemic and exposure to adverse childhood experiences.  By then, I had become a psychologist, so my fatherhood taught me to never work as a psychologist, but instead always be a psychologist.  My training in applied behavior analysis came in handy, both for their education and personal growth.  As I grew with them through the ensuing years, I learned to see that children are always just that, children, despite any diversity or challenge: ethnic, racial or neurological.  If one is a psychologist, one is always, and all the time, a psychologist. Kindness toward another is a gift we can give to all, freely."
